Assessment of the Ait Ahmane Permit – Preliminary Exploration Report 2024

Introduction

As part of its targeted exploration strategy in underexplored regions, Copernicus Mining Company has conducted a geological evaluation of the Ait Ahmane permit, located in the Taounate province of northern Morocco. This initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision to identify and develop high-potential mineral assets through modern mapping and structural modelling.

The Ait Ahmane permit lies in the Rif belt of northern Morocco, an area characterized by deformed Jurassic and Tertiary formations. The site’s geological setting indicates strong potential for base metals—especially zinc, lead, and copper—within a tectonically active environment marked by major folds and fault systems.

The exploration program integrated several complementary techniques:

  • Detailed geological mapping at a 1:5,000 scale;
  • Geophysical surveys (resistivity and spontaneous polarization);
  • Surface sampling with XRF analysis;
  • 2D modelling of structural and lithological features;
  • Use of GIS tools and geological cross-sections.

This approach enabled the identification of structures favorable to mineralization.

Preliminary findings are encouraging:

  • Occurrence of mineralized showings (Zn, Pb) along faulted zones;
  • Geophysical anomalies correlating with hydrothermal alterations;
  • Promising surface assay grades in multiple sample sites.

These indicators support the site’s mineral potential and justify further exploration.

  • The upcoming phase will focus on:

    • Shallow drilling (RC) to confirm subsurface structures;
    • Airborne magnetic surveys to refine structural interpretations;
    • A preliminary technical and economic study based on new results.

Institutional Framework

The project is carried out in compliance with Moroccan mining regulations, in collaboration with local scientific institutions and stakeholders. Copernicus Mining Company is committed to environmental sustainability and inclusive community engagement across all its operations.

Conclusion

This initial evaluation confirms the mineral potential of the Ait Ahmane permit, strategically located in northern Morocco. The promising early results warrant advanced exploration activities. The project illustrates Copernicus Mining Company’s disciplined and responsible approach to building a high-quality exploration portfolio across Morocco.
